Meet Our Staff

We'd like to introduce you to our staff so please take a moment to read about our different members. If you have any questions, please let us know how we may serve you.

 Pastor Bill Limmer

My name is Bill Limmer and I am the pastor at "The Point of Grace" a campus ministry church. We're easy to find, located on Milwaukee's fashionable East side right across the street from the UWM Student Union, at 2223 East Kenwood Blvd., just nine blocks away from Lake Michigan’s beautiful lakefront.

At The Point of Grace all people are welcome to hear and share in scripture’s truth and purity in a way that meets each individual where they are at. Jesus did the same thing so we think that is a good way to do his ministry.

Our campus ministry currently serves students from UWM, MU, MSOE and WLC. We encourage you to come and check us out! We are active and enthusiastic about sharing the love of Jesus - oh, and we have a lot of fun, too!

Whether you are new to the Milwaukee area or have been around for awhile, we have a place for you at "The Point of Grace!" We come together for Christian fellowship and worship Sundays at 10:30 A.M. and 6:30 P.M. - for those you who need a little more sleep. We welcome new faces, real questions and real doubts, so bring whatever is on your heart and mind.

We are blessed to have Mike Westendorf leading our worshipers in song. Our service style is "blended," meaning it's a mixture of traditional (hymns & practices) and postmodern (emerging practices), offering the best of both worlds.

So browse our web-site, check out pictures, news and information about "The Point of Grace," where we do it all in the name of Jesus!!

I look forward to helping you answer life questions and offer spiritual advice, but more importantly, help you meet Jesus and begin to grow your relationship with Him. Because He's waiting with open arms to receive you...

God's Blessings,

-Bill

President Mark Mattes

Hello! My name is Mark Mattes and it is my privilege to be the new President of the new congregation. I and my family have been attending TPOG since father’s Day, 2007 and are certainly blessed to be a part of this new and exciting ministry.

Shelley and I met in the lobby of Enderis Hall on Feb. 27th, 1980, as a blind date and have been together ever since. Shelley has a degree in Criminal Justice and my degree is a Master of Architecture, both of these from UWM.

We were married at St. John’s on Forest Home Ave. and have bounced around, depending on the architecture work available. We spent 4 years at Martin Luther in St. Louis, a couple years at St. Andrew in Milwaukee, and some time at Our Redeemer in Madison, where I was President of that congregation for a year. After moving back to Milwaukee, we were formerly members of Good Shepherd’s, West Allis.

You probably know the rest of the family: Rachel, in here third year at UWM School of Architecture; Lauren, ready to graduate from WISCO and probably pursue college in photography or graphic arts; and Joe, a freshman at WISCO and avid Guitar Hero player.

I, and the family, look forward to serving the students and others at TPOG.

-Mark J. R. Mattes

Music Director Mike Westendorf

My name is Mike Westendorf and I am the director of music at "THE POINT OF GRACE" a campus ministry church. We're easy to find, located on Milwaukee's fashionable east side right across the street from the UWM Student Union, at 2223 East Kenwood Blvd., just nine blocks away from Lake Michigan’s beautiful lakefront.

It's a blessing to be able to share my talents in music and organization with The Point of Grace in Milwaukee, WI. My main job is to help with music in the 6:30pm service and to manage the website tpog.net. I also oversee our Friday Night Live music series and also direct our choir which was started up this year.

In a day and age that is seeing young people disconnect from the church, or perhaps having never really had a connection to a church body, this opportunity is a great chance to help our visitors see that church is far more than the negative press you may see in the papers today. Satan is working hard to undermine the body of Christ and sadly, we are all sinful and are in need of forgiveness.

But that is the message at the Point of Grace. That none are so far gone that they can't be welcomed into God's kingdom. That God's Grace is freely given, but dearly bought. If you have questions, if you've been lost, if you are down, if you are searching for something more than surviving, join us at The Point of Grace, a ministry where Jesus Meets All People. You have no idea how much you mean to Him.

-Mike

Secretary Paula Herbst

Hi! I’m Paula. 10 years ago God led me to become the secretary at the Milwaukee Campus Ministry. Through this ministry I have witnessed God’s awesome power. He never ceases to amaze me!

I am married to Terry, who is a retired school teacher. God has blessed us with 3 daughters- Jessy who is married to Roger, Mary who is married to Bryce, and Ruth who will be marrying Mike this August! God has also given us 3 precious grandchildren, Tyler 16, Jonathon 7, and Charley 5. I never dreamed that being a grandparent would be so wonderful, but it truly is! We try to spend as much time with our grandchildren as we can!

Then there are my “adopted children”, the students who come to The Point of Grace. As we talk about their challenges on campus, their studies, and sometimes their relationships, we soon become family. God has truly blessed me through the relationships I have formed over the years with the students who come for a while and then go off into the world to begin their adult lives. They all have a special place in my heart. So why not stop in at The Point and join the family? We’d love to have you!

-Paula

Outreach Coordinator Abby Rose

Hello everybody! It surely is my honor to be able to be apart of Point of Grace. God has carried me every step of my life, yet it took me awhile to realize how undeserving of this I am. I still daily , with my tiny little human love, try to get a grasp of how intense our almighty God’s grace really is. For His grace, I am eternally grateful, and I promise to ask Him how to better reflect His light for you all.

I was born and raised in Wisconsin, graduated from the University of MN-Twin Cities with a B.S. in Geography in 03 and served in Dawukou China from 04-08 with Friends of China, and am extremely happily married as of February 08. If I had been in charge, I wouldn’t have made it through any of it. His word has definitely been the light for my path.

I would be privileged to share the love with you that HE so richly created in us all. See you at the Point.

-Abby
