The Point of Grace
The Point of Grace Milwaukee Area Campus Ministry serves college aged people with a campus presence at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), Marquette (MU), Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), and Wisconsin Lutheran College (WLC). Our summer season is a time for our collegiate leadership and Ministry team to make plans for the upcoming school year, while reaching out to local churches about what is happening within Campus Ministry and the stories of the lives touched by God's word.
During the school year, we meet around our monthly Gathering, which focuses on relevant topics chosen by the Ministry team and collegiate council. This involves all of our campuses and is open to all college aged people, whether you attend college or not. The week after The Gathering, weekly bible studies will be done on each campus around the theme from that month's Gathering, giving students and guests an opportunity to go deeper on the topic. The following two weeks include a chance to do a campus choice bible study and one week for a more formal fellowship activity, just getting out and enjoying the company of others in safe setting.
Each campus will be governed by a local Student Organization and each student org will be responsible for hosting one Gathering/semester, the local bible students and fellowship activities for that campus and will work on one service project to serve their local campus. This will provide students with leadership opportunities as they help make a difference on their local campus for Jesus sake.
A Collegiate Council has been formed and will consist of 12 young men and women from area colleges and work places, that will work in conjunction with the Ministry team to guide and direct the plans for the future of Campus Ministry in Milwaukee with a specific focus on excellence with The Gathering and subsequent bible studies, Gathering Speakers and topics and will also have a role in connecting to local high schools and congregations.
We are seeking to form a group of mentors who would be willing to walk with our collegiate council as friends willing to help them do what is needed, while surrounding them with older Christians who have experienced a bit more of life and can help guide them as they seek to live out God's faithfulness on their campuses.
We will care for the worship needs of college students who are looking for a church home or a church home while they are away from home, but connecting them with local congregations to sustain a vibrant worship life.
is that we would, as a campus ministry, join with the psalmist who says "I will sing of the Lord's great love forever, with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations. I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you established your faithfulness in heaven itself". That we as college aged people, ministry team leaders and mentors, would desire to make the faithfulness of Jesus known on our campus and through all generations. That we would be part of the story that God is writing for his Glory that all people might have Life in Jesus name.
